Series | A Rush of Blood to the Head

May 17 - June 23, 2019 at ArtShare Gallery at Morgridge Commons, Colorado Mountain College, Glenwood Springs, CO

This watercolor series was part of a group exhibition of a dozen other watercolor artists connected with Creative Districts and local CMC programming from Carbondale/Glenwood Springs/New Castle to Paonia, Ridgway, Steamboat Springs, and Grand Lake. The art traveled to Eagle and Steamboat Springs CMC through the summer and fall of 2019.

The paintings I made were part of a series I called “(Blame It All Upon) A Rush of Blood to the Head”, after lyrics to a Coldplay song and all are small depictions of Amazon boxes (about 5”x7” each). I was thinking about that feeling you get when a package arrives, because it’s kind of like Christmas morning and you know you ordered something a few days ago but maybe can’t remember exactly what it was, but also if you can’t remember what you ordered then maybe you didn’t really need to order it in the first place. So it’s kind of a sickening-but-feel-good thing, especially since it’s Amazon, destroyer of small businesses and playing into the instant gratification desires of America.
